My Faith

To some people when you say you are a Christian they have visions of fanatical, unforgiving, narrow minded people who judge everyone based on what they think. And on the other hand, some people think that just because they go to church, that makes them a Christian.  Well, I want to set the record straight. Going to church no more makes you a Christian than swimming in the lake makes you a duck.  Being a Christian, a true Christian, means that every day through Faith I represent Jesus to those around me.  I know who Jesus is by reading the Bible which I believe is the inspired Word of God, given to disciples, prophets, leaders, and everyday ordinary people by God Himself for the very purpose of knowing His heart.  Unfortunately there are many who use the bible and it's words as a weapon to hurt people and judge people. Please know this, Jesus loves everyone, it is sin He hates. It is His desire to bring everyone into eternity with Him - John 3:16 says:" For God so LOVED the world, that He GAVE His only Son.  That WHOSOEVER (that's you and me) believeth on Him, should NOT parish, but HAVE eternal life". He didn't say: For God ONLY loved people who did what He said, when He said and How He said, and everyone else can go to Hell.  But that is how many people see God.

Representing Jesus is a hard job because of this perception and others that are just as damaging.  Such as the one where people see a Christian make a mistake, or do something contrary to the bible and insist the Christians are hypocrites or fake...gotta confession to make here...I'm human.  And so is every other Christian on this planet.  We all do things that we know we shouldn't.  We might even try to talk ourselves out of the act right up until we do it anyway.  Everybody on the planet does this, whether you are a Christian or not.  But being a Christian means that we should realize our mistake, ask for forgiveness, and never do that again. 2 Chronicles says: "if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land."  This is a pretty specific criteria from God to Christians to be humble and turn from sin.

I ask God every day to help me to follow His Word and His Plan for my life.  I am not a Holy person, nor am I perfect in any way, shape or form.  I am not a theologian, or a scholar, or even that particularly smart to be honest.  I just know that when I purposely do things that are contrary to God's word, then I hurt Him - how can I hurt someone who loved me so much?  That my dear friends is the dilemma that all true Christians face every day in this world.  And if we are conscious of that, then how can we hurt His creation, including people that He loves so much?

I may not agree with the way you think, or things you say or how you act, and sometimes God does not agree either, but know that neither of us will ever stop loving you, or showing you how perceptions of who we are can be so wrong.  Hopefully you will one day (if you don't already) know truly how His Love can impact your daily life and how you too can have eternal life through Jesus as your Savior. All you have to do is believe that He is who He says he is and tell Him so by living every day as a representative of Jesus Christ to the rest of the world.
